The State of Indiana is hiring a State Eligibility Consultant to ensure accurate benefits determinations for SNAP, Medicaid, and TANF. You will review applications, changes, and redeterminations, correct data, and authorize benefits while providing peer coaching feedback.

Role requires travel, strong policy knowledge, and the ability to work independently or with a team. The position offers a comprehensive benefits package and career growth opportunities within DFR/FSSA.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of public assistance policy, practices, and procedures.
• Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local rules and regulations related to public assistance programs.
• Working knowledge of computerized eligibility systems.
• Ability to identify problems, evaluate alternatives, and implement effective solutions.
• Ability to use tact and empathy with diverse clients.

Responsibilities

• Review eligibility recommendations and information provided by contract staff.
• Determine eligibility for benefits and waivers per rules and guidelines.
• Examine data matches for inconsistencies.
• Approve contractor-calculated claims.
• Conduct full eligibility interviews for SNAP, TANF and Medicaid applicants.
• Stay current on changes in rules and guidelines.
