Job summary

Woodland Springs Behavioral Health in Conroe, Texas, seeks a Behavioral Health Technician to support the therapeutic milieu under RN supervision. You will help deliver scheduled programs, supervise patients, ensure safety, and uphold a dignified care environment.

The role requires critical thinking, the ability to work under stress, and CPR/de-escalation certification within 30 days of hire; education is a High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience: prior work in a psychiatric health-care facility preferred.
• Certifications: CPR and de-escalation certification required within 30 days of hire.
• Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Responsibilities

• Observe and maintain a safe environment with regular patient checks and supervision as needed.
• Take vital signs, collect specimens, document care and assist with group education.
• Promote a positive therapeutic milieu and accompany patients to meals and appointments.
• Report medical or psychiatric changes to the RN and assist with admissions.
• Document patient property at admission/discharge and conduct unit safety checks each shift.
• Encourage activities of daily living and facilitate psychoeducational/therapeutic groups.
• Apply crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques; orient new staff to the unit.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
