Job summary

Baystate Health in Springfield, MA, is seeking a Behavioral Resource Technician (BRT) to join our team on 12-hour shifts. This full-time role supports patient safety and one-to-one observation in behavioral health settings, with 7am-7:30pm shift and every-other weekend.

Responsibilities include safety observation, maintaining a caring environment, basic patient care tasks, and timely reporting to the nurse.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of relevant patient care experience; 2 years in behavioral health preferred.
• Experience with behavioral health patients or paraprofessional work; BRT apprentice experience counts.
• CPR through American Heart Association BLS required.
• CPI required within 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide safety observation of the patient(s) assigned.
• Maintain a safe environment and interact with patient, family, and staff in a caring professional manner.
• Provide care for the patient and may include bathing, feeding, toileting, ambulating, turning, and repositioning as assigned.
• Reporting any changes in the patient’s condition or behavior to the nurse immediately and documenting every 15 minutes during their shift.
• Demonstrates competency for one-to-one observation of patients based on the care of the suicidal patient policy. Staff providing patient safety observation must remain awake and alert at all times.
• Other duties and responsibilities as required.
