Job summary

Maxim Healthcare is seeking an entry-level Behavioral Health Professional to support children under 21 with autism and related needs in home and community settings. No prior experience required; a high school diploma and passion for helping others are essential.

Paid training and BHP certification are provided, with opportunities for weekly paychecks and flexible scheduling. The role emphasizes safety, daily living skills, and social development, with documentation and compliance

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• English proficiency.
• Current CPR card.
• Current health screening (per state requirements).
• Ability to complete Maine BHP Certificate within 1 year of hire (paid training).

Responsibilities

• Support the health, wellness, and safety of the child.
• Encourage and assist with goals related to daily living skills (healthy habits, personal care, independence).
• Help children build safe and appropriate peer and adult relationships.
• Teach skills that improve self-awareness, social awareness, and community integration.
• Maintain accurate and compliant documentation of progress and behaviors.
• Implement behavior support strategies as outlined in the treatment plan.
• Report suspected abuse or neglect promptly and appropriately.
• Use evidence-based techniques such as prompting, modeling, instruction, and reinforcement.
• Provide transportation as needed for appointments and community activities.
• Encourage communication, decision-making, confidence, and access to needed services.
