Job summary

Heywood Healthcare is seeking a Behavioral Health Navigator to provide clinical oversight and operational support for crisis evaluations in the Emergency Department and on inpatient units. This role ensures timely assessments, appropriate level-of-care determinations, and safe, effective discharge planning.

The Navigator serves as a supportive leader for staff, reports to the Director of Behavioral Health, and partners with ED and inpatient teams as well as community providers to maintain

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field required.
• LICSW: independent clinical licensure required.
• Experience with behavioral health crisis and supervision is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical supervision and real-time support to staff completing crisis evaluations in the ED and inpatient units.
• Review and approve clinical assessments and discharge dispositions.
• Coordinate inpatient psychiatric bed searches for patients needing admission.
• Oversee insurance verification and prior authorization processes.
• Ensure completion of safety plans and appropriate discharge planning for patients returning to the community.
• Collaborate with ED, inpatient staff and community partners to ensure continuity of care.
• Monitor workflow and support efficient patient throughput.
• Promote teamwork, accountability, and patient-centered care.
