Job summary

Boston Medical Center – South is seeking a part-time Behavioral Health Navigator to join an interdisciplinary Emergency Department team handling behavioral health crises. Requires LMHC/LICSW or licensed psychologist status with 2–3 years of diagnostic experience.

The navigator will assess patients, coordinate with related clinicians, and document care per HIPAA guidelines. The role emphasizes patient engagement, health literacy improvement, and collaboration with physicians and social services

Qualifications

• Licensed independent license in MA (Psychologist, LICSW or LMHC).
• 2–3 years of direct diagnostic experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform confidential interviews to assess patient needs.
• Collaborate with health professionals for treatment planning.
• Document assessments and plans in the medical record per HIPAA.
• Provide education and support to patients and care team.
• Maintain current knowledge of regulatory requirements.
• Engage patients to improve health literacy and adherence.
• Identify high‑risk patients and make referrals as appropriate.
• Other duties as assigned.
