Job summary

Asteroid Health is seeking an Admissions Counselor to join our Newton, MA team. The role involves intake assessments, determining care levels, and connecting with referrals to ensure timely access to services.

You will collaborate closely with the clinical team to deliver compassionate behavioral health support. The ideal candidate has a background in Social Work or Psychology, experience in admissions or patient access, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience in admissions, patient access, or front-line behavioral health services.
• Foundational knowledge of behavioral health concepts and crisis sensitivity.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with professional interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with basic office software and EHR systems.

Responsibilities

• Administering clinical/intake assessments. Determining clients' mental health needs.
• Assign clients to the proper level of care/ refer out appropriately.
• Connect with referrals.
• Collaborate effectively with the rest of the team regarding referrals.
• Welcome individuals into the space.
• Provide support and guidance to clients and their referrals/families.
• Run groups as assigned.
