Job summary

East Hartford Public Schools seeks a behavior manager to efficiently manage student behaviors and foster a safe school environment. You will assist teachers with classroom management and implement treatment plans for students in special education, ensuring supervision and safe student conduct.

Responsibilities include de-escalation, communication with teachers and parents, and adherence to health, safety, and confidentiality policies.

Qualifications

  • Some college courses highly desirable.
  • Experience working with disruptive behavior, especially with children.

Responsibilities

  • Assist classroom teacher with behavior management including intervention, de-escalation, and re-engagement.
  • Communicate with teacher to determine next steps and consequences after student is calm and engaged.
  • Support and promote positive behaviors and safe choices for students.
  • Comply with policies relating to student protection, health, safety and confidentiality.
  • Complete the behavior tracker on the incident date.
  • Report restraints or seclusions to the building administrator.
  • Support students with completing assigned work.
  • Ensure students remain supervised at all times.
  • Accompany students on school buses/transportation vehicles.
  • Implement treatment plans as per Board policy on restraints and seclusion.
  • Serve on interdisciplinary teams and attend staff meetings.
  • Maintain open communication with students, staff, and parents regarding concerns.
