Job summary

Dayton Independent School District is seeking a District Behavior Paraprofessional to support teachers and staff in managing students with behavioral challenges. The role focuses on implementing behavior plans, de-escalation, data tracking, and parent communication within the Special Education department.

The paraprofessional will collaborate with administrators and teachers to deliver training, support classroom management, and assist with individual and group interventions, including home

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience with students with behavioral challenges preferred.
• Training in behavior management techniques and crisis intervention preferred.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with students, teachers, and parents.
• Knowledge of behavior and social skill intervention techniques and methodology.
• Ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with administrators and teachers to design and develop research based behavioral intervention plans (BIP).
• Monitor the effectiveness of behavior intervention plans and recommend changes as needed.
• Monitor and record student behavior data as directed.
• Use approved de-escalation techniques and interventions during behavioral incidents.
• Assist teachers with lesson planning, lesson modeling, classroom management, and behavior management.
• Develop and maintain effective behavioral management and intervention techniques with individuals or groups of students.
