Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Waukesha County seeks a part-time Before and After School Care (Y BASE) Instructor in Mukwonago, WI. You will coordinate daily activities and provide a safe, nurturing environment for school-aged children.

Under supervision of the Site Supervisor, you will follow developmentally appropriate plans, keep records, and communicate with families while upholding YMCA values of caring, respect, honesty, and responsibility.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must have completed high school or equivalent.
• Must meet school age licensing requirements including at least one course in school-age growth and development within 2 months of hire.
• Must be able and willing to obtain CPR, First Aid, AED, Abusive Head Trauma, SIDS (if applicable), Mandated Reporter, Wisconsin Child Care Registry certification, and additional non-credit coursework as needed.
• Prior experience in a licensed early learning program is preferred.
• Must have sincere interest and ability to understand needs and develop positive outcomes in children from diverse populations.
• Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with others.
• Ability to relate effectively with diverse groups of people from all social and economic backgrounds.
• Strong oral and written communication skills are required.
• Exhibit the core values of caring, respect, honesty, and responsibility in all aspects of their work with the YMCA.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily activities for before and after school care.
• Provide a safe and nurturing environment for school-aged children.
• Follow developmentally appropriate lesson plans and participate in activities.
• Maintain participant records and other documentation.
• Ensure safety and cleanliness of learning spaces and classrooms.
• Uphold YMCA emergency procedures and communicate concerns to supervisor.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
