Job summary

YMCA of Greater Waukesha County is seeking a part-time Y BASE Instructor to coordinate daily activities for school-age children at the Waukesha, WI location. The role emphasizes a safe, nurturing environment and adherence to YMCA policies.

Responsibilities include implementing lesson plans, engaging youth in activities, maintaining records, and ensuring safety. Must be 18+, have a high school diploma, and pursue required certifications such as CPR/First Aid; prior licensed program experience

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must have completed high school or equivalent.
• Must meet licensing requirements including course in school-age growth and development.
• Must be able and willing to obtain CPR, First Aid, AED, Abusive Head Trauma, SIDS (if applicable), Mandated Reporter, Wisconsin Child Care Registry certs.
• Prior experience in a licensed early learning program preferred.
• Strong communication and ability to relate to diverse groups.

Responsibilities

• Follow developmentally appropriate lesson plans and engage in daily activities with before/after school participants.
• Serve as a role model to staff and participants.
• Build positive relationships with staff, families, and children, providing support and clear communication.
• Maintain participant records and required documentation.
• Ensure safety and cleanliness of learning spaces and classrooms.
• Follow emergency procedures and report concerns to supervisor as needed.
• Uphold YMCA core values of caring, respect, honesty, and responsibility.
• Comply with Department of Children and Families and other regulations.
