Job summary

Texas Children's Hospital in Houston is seeking a Transfer Center Specialist to coordinate patient transfers and optimize bed availability. You will work across the Transfer Center and Bed Control to place patients based on acuity, diagnosis, age and sex, while ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.

The role requires a high school diploma, 1 year of Transfer Center/dispatch experience or clinical background, and a focus on safety, data integrity, and ongoing process improvement.

Qualifications

• 1 year of Transfer Center, 911 dispatch experience and/or relevant clinical experience
• Respiratory fit testing may be required to comply with safety standards
• High School Diploma or GED is required
• Preferred: LVN license or EMT-B certification with 1 year of EMT or LVN experience; 3 years Transfer Center/911 dispatch experience

Responsibilities

• Maximizes available beds to patients requesting beds based on acuity, diagnosis and age
• Processes transfer requests within federal/state regulatory requirements and Hospital policies, procedures and guidelines
• Monitor and/or Maintain data integrity
• Accurately identifies a patient and assigns a unique patient identification number (medical record number) for the Hospital’s Integrated Delivery System
• Participates in the department’s process improvement program
