Job summary

BGCSF seeks a Beacon Director at George Washington Carver Elementary School to lead TK-5th grade programs, oversee schoolday and afterschool activities, and partner with SFUSD and community organizations to address academic and socio-emotional needs.

You will supervise staff, drive data-informed decisions, and coordinate family outreach, with a strong focus on youth development, safety, and program quality. BGCSF offers comprehensive benefits and professional growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• 5 to 7 years of leadership experience in human services or education-related org.
• AA degree or higher OR HS diploma/equivalent OR CBEST or SFUSD Instructional Aide exam.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, manage, lead, and motivate a team.
• Strong leadership skills including negotiation, problem-solving, delegation, and decision-making.
• Analytical mindset to use program data to drive decisions and strategic plans.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Experience with SFUSD, community-based orgs, and serving low-income populations.

Responsibilities

• Provide vision and oversight for TK-5th grade youth development, academic and social enrichment, family partnership, and behavioral health programming.
• Collaborate with school leadership, SFUSD, SF Beacon Initiative, DCYF, families and partners to integrate services.
• Supervise Assistant Beacon Director and program leaders to ensure quality operations across schoolday and afterschool programs.
• Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate staff and volunteers in partnership with BGCSF leadership and HR.
• Set annual goals, track outcomes, and manage program budgets and MOUs in compliance with policies.
