Job summary

The Grand County School District is seeking a Program Director for BEACON Afterschool to lead a K-12 program that extends learning beyond the school day. You will guide program development, supervise staff, manage grants, and oversee budgeting to ensure sustainability and impact.

This role emphasizes building strong relationships with schools, families, and community partners, using data to drive decisions and outcomes. Travel between district sites is required in a rural setting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Three+ years of progressively responsible experience in education, youth development, program administration, grant management, or related field.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and project management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Experience managing multiple priorities, deadlines, and stakeholder relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of the BEACON Afterschool Program including program development, staff supervision, grant administration, budgeting, compliance, and partnerships.
  • Build and sustain community partnerships and long-term sustainability.
  • Serve as a relationship-builder, strategic thinker, and grant writer to connect students, schools, families, and partners.
  • Travel between district sites and participate in regional or state meetings as needed.
  • Support afterschool/youth development best practices and data-driven program outcomes.

Job description

BEACON Afterschool is seeking an innovative, collaborative, and mission-driven Program Director to lead our K-12 BEACON Afterschool Program. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic leader who is passionate about creating meaningful learning experiences for students beyond the school day while securing the resources needed to sustain and expand programming.

The Program Director will oversee all aspects of the BEACON Afterschool Program, including program development, staff supervision, grant administration, budgeting, compliance, community partnerships, and long-term sustainability. The successful candidate will be a skilled relationship-builder, strategic thinker, and accomplished grant writer who can connect students, schools, families, and community partners to create engaging opportunities for learning and growth.

This position is primarily based in school and office settings and includes frequent interaction with students, families, staff, and community partners. Occasional evening and weekend activities are required, along with travel between district sites and attendance at regional or state meetings.

This is a Monday-Thursday year-round position for up to 32 hours per week over 170 contract days. We observe all school breaks and holidays.

Requirements Required
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in education, youth development, program administration, grant management, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and project management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Experience managing multiple priorities, deadlines, and stakeholder relationships.
Preferred
  • Master's degree.
  • Experience writing and administering state, federal, or foundation grants.
  • Experience supervising staff and managing budgets.
  • Knowledge of afterschool, expanded learning, and youth development best practices.
