Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco (BGCSF) seeks an Individualized Afterschool Program Assistant to support youth with diverse needs at the Beacon site at Malcolm X Academy. This 25-hour-per-week, school-year role emphasizes relationship-building and inclusive program delivery.

Responsibilities include adapting materials, assisting with IEP goals, and helping youth in group and individual activities. BGCSF offers benefits, professional development, and a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree or 48 college units plus high school diploma.
• Competency with youth on IEP and emergency response.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Ability to handle confidential matters.
• Experience with TK–5th grade in youth development.
• Strong behavior management and high expectations.
• Ability to follow systems in busy environment.
• Current Red Cross First Aid/CPR certification.
• SFUSD Paraeducator restraint training or arrange within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Plan and adapt materials for youth with special needs.
• Assist with personal needs like lifting, toileting, feeding if needed.
• Work with IEP-established plans.
• Lead small and large group activities.
• Explain activities and support completion.
• Maintain assessments and records for program support.
• Keep equipment and supplies ready for activities.
• Develop alternate communication supports.
• Manage program space to create positive environment.
• Lead behavior management interventions.
• Assist other staff in supervising spaces/bathrooms.
• Provide first aid per training.
• Report incidents to Site Director.
• Perform related duties.
