Job summary

Tech Mahindra is seeking an experienced Java engineer to design, build, and maintain reactive microservices in a Kubernetes environment. You will own the full API lifecycle from authentication flows to data transformation and deployment automation, working within a Scrum team and mentoring engineers.

You will lead design of OAuth2 token exchanges, REST API contracts, and integration patterns with third-party platforms.

Qualifications

• Minimum entry requirement is a Bachelor’s or Higher Degree.
• 5+ years of professional Java development with Java 17+ and Spring Boot.
• Deep experience with reactive programming and non-blocking I/O.
• Strong understanding of OAuth2/OpenID Connect and SSO integrations.
• Proven REST API design skills with DTO-based transformation patterns.
• Experience with Maven, Docker, Kubernetes in a CI/CD environment.
• GIT-based workflow in fast-paced CI/CD.
• Daily use of AI coding assistants as part of workflow.

Responsibilities

• Architect and own reactive Spring Boot/WebFlux microservices at scale.
• Lead OAuth2 token exchange flows, credential lifecycle management, and caching strategies.
• Define and evolve REST API contracts with validation, errors, and observability.
• Drive integration patterns for enterprise third-party platforms and SSO providers.
• Automate repetitive engineering tasks using AI-assisted tooling.
• Set test quality standards and ensure code coverage with JaCoCo and SonarQube.
• Own Docker multi-stage builds and Kubernetes deployment pipelines (GitHub Actions, Harness).
• Mentor mid-level engineers and participate in code reviews and sprint ceremonies.

You will design, build, and maintain reactive Java microservices that integrate enterprise third-party systems with internal consumers. You will own the full lifecycle of API development — from authentication flows and data transformation through deployment automation — within a Kubernetes-hosted, CI/CD-driven environment.

You bring strong opinions on system design, move fast without cutting corners, and actively use AI-assisted tooling to stay ahead. You are comfortable leading technical decisions within a scrum team and mentoring engineers around you.

Responsibilities

• Architect and own (code) reactive Spring Boot/WebFlux microservices at scale using Project Reactor (Mono/Flux)
• Lead design of OAuth2 token exchange flows, credential lifecycle management, and caching strategies
• Define and evolve REST API contracts with structured validation, error handling, and observability
• Drive integration patterns for enterprise third-party platforms and SSO providers
• Automate repetitive engineering tasks — code generation, test scaffolding, data transformation pipelines — using AI-assisted tooling (Claude, Copilot, or similar)
• Set the bar for test quality and coverage; enforce standards via JaCoCo and SonarQube
• Own Docker multi-stage builds and Kubernetes deployment pipelines (GitHub Actions, Harness)
• Mentor mid-level engineers and participate actively in code review and sprint ceremonies

Required Skills

• 5+ years of professional Java development; Java 17+ and Spring Boot required
• Deep experience with reactive programming: Project Reactor, non-blocking I/O, WebClient
• Strong understanding of OAuth2 / OpenID Connect; hands-on experience with token exchange or SSO integrations
• Proven REST API design skills with DTO-based transformation patterns at scale
• Maven, Docker, Kubernetes — not just aware of, but comfortable owning
• Git-based workflow in a fast-paced CI/CD environment
• Daily use of AI coding assistants (Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor, or similar) as a core part of your workflow

Nice to Have

• Experience designing or integrating agentic systems — multi-step LLM workflows, tool use, or prompt engineering for code-adjacent tasks
• JFrog Artifactory or similar artifact management
• Caffeine or other in-memory caching strategies
• SonarQube and code quality gate configuration
• Harness or other deployment automation platforms

Enterprise tech stack. Services run on Java 17, Spring Boot 4, deployed to Kubernetes via Docker. All code goes through automated quality scans and coverage checks before merge. We actively invest in AI tooling and expect senior engineers to help shape how we adopt it responsibly and at speed.

The pay range for this role is $120,000 - $122,000*per annum including any bonuses or variable pay.
