Job description

The Green Recruitment Company is partnering with a leading multinational clean energy developer in their search for a Battery Storage Project Development Lead. The ideal candidate for this role will possess deep expertise in the technical, regulatory, and economic aspects of BESS development, with a focus on grid interconnection, site acquisition, permitting, and project execution. This role will be hybrid in either Austin, TX or Palo Alto, CA. Remote work could be considered for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

• Land Acquisition: coordinate contract land managers and personally conduct land acquisition duties including identifying prospect sites, researching land ownership, contacting landowners, and preparing and executing necessary paperwork.

• Permitting: research required permits, coordinate with permitting consultants and attorneys to prepare and submit permit applications and other filings, and represent the developer at permitting hearings.

• Public Relations and Outreach: assess project needs and work with the project team to draft and carry out public relations activities.

• Electrical Interconnection: coordinated electrical engineering consultants and worked with utilities and independent system operators to file interconnection applications, scope interconnection studies and advance projects towards achieving signed interconnection agreements.

• Commercialization: work alongside commercial, regulatory, and finance teams to identify, price, and bid on contracted revenue opportunities.

• Project Management: manage project budgeting, forecasting, invoicing, and cost control duties across projects including creating and presenting project scopes, schedules, and budgets.

• Resource Management: coordinate project team members (internal and external) using appropriate methods for monitoring and controlling project budget and schedule.

• Internal Coordination: Interface with engineering, legal, finance, procurement, construction, energy marketing and executive team members to accurately define and mitigate project risks and provide concise updates on project status.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Urban Planning, or related fields; Advanced degree preferred.

• 3-4 years of experience in renewable energy project development.

• 7+ years of industry experience.

• Some exposure to project M&A deals and origination.

• Experience in several US power markets (SPP/MISO/PJM preferred).
