Job summary

UL Solutions is seeking a Technical Engineer for a hybrid role based in Auburn Hills, MI, working three days per week on-site. You will execute DV/PV tests across battery cells, modules, and packs and support EV transportation projects from launch to operation.

You will define test plans, prepare quotes, draft RFQs, and coordinate across internal teams, with opportunities to travel to client sites. A strong battery background and ABET-accredited degree are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering (ABET-accredited).
• 5+ years of DV and PV test experience for battery industry.
• Strong understanding of lithium-ion batteries and testing methodologies.
• Familiarity with conformity assessment standards and regulations.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and client communication.

Responsibilities

• Define project scope and develop investigation plans.
• Prepare quotes for battery testing projects with sales.
• Draft RFQ for external labs when in-house capacity is max.
• Conduct or oversee tests at client sites; travel may be required.
• Coordinate lab activities and prepare client reports.
• Represent UL at industry events and mentor staff.
• Adhere to UL Code of Conduct and security practices.
• Assist with project administration and scheduling.
