Job summary

M.C. Dean is seeking a Building Automation System (BAS) Technician to monitor, operate, test and perform preventive and corrective maintenance on BAS and components.

You will respond to tenant calls, work orders, alarms, and calibrate or program BAS devices; potential back-shift or on-call hours; union with CBA; must have high school diploma and 6+ years BAS experience. The role emphasizes teamwork with the BAS Manager, adherence to contract requirements, and ongoing system optimization for

Qualifications

  • High school diploma with 6+ years of BAS experience.
  • Vocational school or associate degree in a technical trade preferred.
  • Three years BAS monitoring and DDC controls experience within the building controls industry.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation including sequence of operations, technical product literature and specifications.
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic communications wiring, control logic wiring and end devices.
  • Knowledge of building mechanical and electrical equipment functions and use, HVAC systems controls applications, and relevant hardware and software products.
  • Knowledge of commonly used networks and network topologies.
  • Ability to work at a computer terminal with mouse and keyboard for extended periods.
  • Ability to work safely in close proximity to exposed line voltage and low voltage wiring and terminations.
  • Good customer communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Log and identify problem areas with Admin, PM and service staff.
  • Monitor alarms and triage system messages and reports.
  • Back up application software and check network integrity of control devices.
  • Debug, calibrate, and test control components and software; set up alarms.
  • Respond to service calls and help develop maintenance programs.
  • Maintain procedures for service calls and routine maintenance.
