Job summary

Hoosick Banquet LLC is seeking a part-time Banquet Server to provide exceptional food and beverage service at functions in Troy, NY. The role requires basic reading, writing, and math skills, with experience in food service and knowledge of banquet operations.

You will work weekends with daytime/evening availability during the week and report to the Banquet Captain. The position is tipped and offers opportunities for development and internal promotions; benefits include PTO, 401K, and travel

Responsibilities

• Read a BEO and complete setup based on its information.
• Assist captain in setting up buffet and other food service as needed.
• Greet and serve guests.
• Serve menu items promptly and in line with banquet event order.
• Perform pre- and post-shift side work and setup tasks.
• Clear tables and remove used items to kitchen for cleaning.
• Respond to guest inquiries and report special requests promptly.

Banquet Server provides guests in the catering department with the highest standards of food and beverage service at all functions. Reports directly to the Banquet Captain. Job requirements include basic reading, writing, and math skills; food service experience with general knowledge of banquet operations; knowledge of different table settings and styles of service; and good customer service and interpersonal communications skills. Physical requirements include walking and standing for the majority of each shift; carrying and lifting items (i.e.. plates, utensils, trays, tables) frequently.

Job Duties

• Be able to read a BEO and know how to complete a setup based on information contained therein.
• Assist captain in setting up buffet and other special food service as needed.
• Greet and serve guests.
• Serves menu items to guest in a prompt and courteous manner and according to the banquet event order; times the service of courses to correspond with the dining pace of the guest.
• Performs pre- and post-shift side work; set-up, condiments, etc.
• Clears tables after service. Removes trays of dirty dishes, silverware and glassware to kitchen for cleaning.
• Responds to guest inquiries and reports special requests promptly to ensure guest satisfaction; notifies supervisor of guest complaints or unusual situations.
• Always notify the Captain or Supervisor before leaving the floor or banquet service area.
• Set-up, land breakdown banquet bars, as assigned according to standard policies and procedures.
