Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin is seeking a Banquet Captain to lead catered events for Forty Acres Catering within Longhorn Hospitality. You will supervise front-of-house operations, manage staff and ensure top-tier guest service from setup through post-event teardown.

Responsibilities include coordinating BEOs, maintaining quality, and collaborating with catering leadership to schedule part-time labor while upholding safety and service standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least 2 years experience as a waiter in dining.
• Ability to maintain Food Safety Training as required by UHD.
• Relevant education/experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Understand and use Banquet Event Order (BEO) forms and room diagrams.
• Oversee operations for catered functions and front-of-house during events.
• Ensure catering setups meet client specifications and quality standards.
• Lead servers and staff for events and train part-time staff.
• Communicate needs clearly to catering team and management.
• Manage deliveries to campus locations and verify accuracy.
