Job summary

Kalahari Resorts & Conventions is seeking a Banquet Captain to supervise and assist with setup, service, and cleanup of banquet functions, and to ensure spaces meet specifications for guest experiences.

The role requires strong leadership in a hospitality environment, flexibility to work long hours, and the ability to manage equipment and room setups for large events. Pay is $7–$8 per hour plus tips.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years banquet supervisor or set‑up houseperson leadership experience.
• 1 year supervisory or management experience in food service or hospitality is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure correct and timely setup of all banquet functions, including rooms, breaks, and AV equipment.
• Assign side work duties and supervise servers and stations.
• Break down banquet space after events and store equipment properly.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the banquet spaces and storage areas.

Kalahari Resorts & Conventions is seeking a Banquet Captain. In this role, you will be responsible for supervising and assisting with the setup, service, and cleanup of all assigned banquet functions, proper upkeep of convention, meeting, banquet facilities, & equipment in an efficient and timely manner.

You’ll ensure event spaces are perfectly arranged according to specifications, creating a welcoming and seamless environment for our guests. Your attention to detail and efficiency will directly enhance both guest satisfaction and the overall success of events.

Pay Rate - $ 7 - $8/ Hr + Tips.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure the correct and timely setup of all Banquet Event Order (BEO) functions which include meeting rooms, breaks, audio visual and other equipment.
• Assign side work duties and stations to all servers, and supervise the service station or banquet room.
• Ability to utilize various types of cleaning and setup equipment included but not limited to: vacuums, chair dollies, carts, audio visual equipment. Break down banquet space after the completion of functions and ensure that all equipment and supplies are stored properly .
• Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation throughout the banquet function space, pre‑function space, and storage areas to include the carpet, floors, walls, walks, doors, windows, heating/air conditioning units, etc.
• Perform other duties as requested by management.

What We’re Looking For

• Must have at least 1-2 years of banquet supervisor and/or set‑up houseperson leadership experience and/or 1 year of supervisory or management experience in food service or the hospitality industry in a convention center or large hotel (over 500 room property) is preferred.
• Physical Requirements include exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 50 pounds of force frequently , and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly; to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects .
• Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying the issues raised by Associates, Supervisors, Department Heads, Senior Management, and guests.
• Must be flexible to work long hours including weekends and holidays.
