Job summary

Southern Bank and Trust Company is seeking a Customer Service Representative I to handle opening and maintaining customer accounts, selling bank products, and resolving service issues. The role emphasizes accurate processing, regulatory compliance, and attentive customer care.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED or equivalent.
• 1-2 years of previous experience in customer contact or sales preferred.
• Previous community banking experience with new accounts preferred.

Responsibilities

• Open, maintain and close retail accounts per policy guidelines.
• Actively sell and cross-sell Bank products and services; stay updated on offerings.
• Assist customers with information requests or problem resolution promptly.
• Communicate effectively with customers and internal contacts.
• Ensure compliance with legal/regulatory mandates and bank policies.
• May function as backup Teller or backup Loan Officer Assistant as needed.
• Prepare miscellaneous control reports related to customer service or branch operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
