Job Summary

We are seeking a Banker for a direct hire opportunity in San Mateo, CA within the banking and consumer lending industry. This role is ideal for a customer-focused banking professional with teller experience, new account opening knowledge, and a strong interest in helping clients choose the right financial products and services.

The Banker will support consumer and business clients with account opening, account maintenance, teller transactions, product recommendations, and service inquiries. Key Responsibilities

• Open, maintain, and close consumer accounts and business accounts, including checking, savings, CDs, IRAs, and other applicable account types.
• Interview and profile clients to understand financial needs, recommend appropriate banking products, and identify cross-sell and referral opportunities.
• Process teller transactions as needed while maintaining strong accuracy, confidentiality, and balancing performance.
• Respond to client inquiries in person and by phone with courteous, professional, and timely service.
• Ensure compliance with bank policies, procedures, documentation requirements, account titling standards, and applicable banking regulations, including Bank Secrecy Act requirements.
• Support branch goals by generating new business, retaining at-risk clients, partnering with internal teams, and participating in assigned community reinvestment volunteer activities.

Compensation and Benefits

• Direct hire opportunity.
• Pay range: $20 to $31.90 per hour.
• Location: San Mateo, CA.
• Minimum of 10 CRA volunteer hours per year. Volunteer hours are typically scheduled during business hours, are compensable time, and mileage is reimbursed.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Open and support new consumer accounts and applicable business accounts.
• Process account maintenance, documentation, and teller transactions accurately.
• Cross-sell banking products and refer clients to appropriate internal partners.
• Deliver professional customer service while supporting branch profitability and compliance goals.
• 1 or more years of banking teller experience required, with level determined by experience and account-opening capability.
• Experience opening consumer accounts required.
• Experience with basic business accounts required for higher-level consideration.
• Knowledge of banking products, account documentation, proper account titling, and new account procedures.
• Working knowledge of banking regulations such as Bank Secrecy Act and Information Security requirements.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and banking software or core banking systems.
• Strong customer relations skills with the ability to communicate clearly and work cooperatively with clients and team members.
• Excellent judgment, professionalism, confidentiality, and ability to handle sensitive client information.
• Positive, service-oriented attitude with strong listening skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving ability.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience opening complex business accounts.
• Experience supporting Trust and Estate Accounts.
• Familiarity with Treasury Services such as remote deposit capture, armored service, or courier service.
• Prior supervisory experience for senior-level consideration.
• Experience preparing or processing branch reports such as currency transactions, returned items, overdrafts, or callbacks.
