Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Brandywine (YGBW) seeks an experienced ballet educator to join UMLY School of Dance Education. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of ballet pedagogy, and be capable of developing dancers through a structured curriculum with a focus on progressions and technique, preferably using the Vaganova method.

Key responsibilities include planning and leading classes, maintaining records, and promoting the program to families, while ensuring safety and compliance

Qualifications

  • 18 years of age with high school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 5 years of advanced experience in specialized skill
  • Minimum of 4 years teaching specialized skill
  • Training and qualifications in the specialized instruction area
  • Demonstrate advance knowledge of specialized skill
  • Ability to effectively use technology for programmatic needs
  • Obtain and maintain all new hires certifications and trainings within 90 days of hire

Responsibilities

  • Plans, organizes and leads specific activities, routines and/or games for all participants.
  • Leads with enthusiasm and positive motivation in program.
  • Organizes and maintains program records including, but not limited to: attendance records, rosters, etc.
  • Manages all equipment.
  • Maintains a clean and risk-free environment.
  • Communicates effectively and timely with program participants and parents.
  • Ensures all children are picked up by a parent.
  • Promotes other YMCA programs by handing out brochures, answering questions, or referral to appropriate person.
  • Ensures compliance with all YGBW policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

UMLY School of Dance Education is seeking an experienced ballet educator with a strong understanding of ballet pedagogy and progressive ballet training. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience teaching ballet technique, developing dancers through a structured curriculum, and fostering strong technical foundations. (Preferably Vaganova Technique)
