  • Coordinate with game ops staff to ensure smooth ball handling before, during, and after games.
  • Attend training sessions and pre-game briefings to review assignments and protocols.
  • Perform pre-game and post-game duties including ball inspection and equipment setup.
  • Demonstrate professionalism in a live entertainment environment with fans and cameras.
  • Follow arena safety guidelines and policies while remaining fan-friendly.

Job description

The Sioux Falls Skyforce Game Operations department is hiring a Ball Crew Member! This role would be responsible for assisting both home and visiting coaching staff with various game-day tasks, including rebounding during warm-ups/shoot around, managing benches during the game, sweeping the floor, and cleaning the locker room and benches post-game. Seeking professional individuals with maturity who are looking to be involved with the sport side of a professional basketball organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The following are examples of the various functions required. The job requirements are not limited to the items on this list.

  • Retrieve, distribute, and manage game balls and practice balls during all home games, practices, and special events held at the arena
  • Position strategically along the court perimeter to ensure efficient and timely ball retrieval during live game play and stoppages
  • Maintain an adequate supply of dry, game-ready basketballs for players, referees, and coaching staff throughout each event
  • Coordinate with game operations staff, officials, and team personnel to ensure smooth ball handling procedures before, during, and after games
  • Attend all required training sessions, rehearsals, and pre-game briefings to review positioning assignments and operational protocols
  • Perform pre-game and post-game duties including ball inspection, equipment setup, and storage of all related materials
  • Demonstrate professionalism, attentiveness, and composure while operating in a high-visibility, live entertainment environment in front of fans and broadcast cameras
  • Follow all arena safety guidelines and organizational policies while maintaining a fan-friendly and courteous demeanor at all times

Education and/or Experience

No prior experience or training required. Knowledge of basketball game operations, rules, and on-court protocols as they relate to ball handling and retrieval duties during live events preferred. Skill in performing duties reliably and consistently across a schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and holidays aligned with the professional sports season calendar.
