Job summary

Insomnia Cookies is seeking an Assistant Bakery Operations Manager in Naperville, IL to partner with the Bakery Operations Manager and lead a high-energy team. You will manage staffing, inventory, quality, and guest experiences, stepping up when the BOM is away.

You will recruit, train, and coach hourly staff, create schedules, control labor costs, and ensure standards of safety and cleanliness across the bakery.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of leadership experience in retail, restaurant, hospitality, or customer-focused environments.
• Experience coaching, motivating, and developing hourly team members.
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Hands-on leadership style and willingness to jump into any bakery role when needed.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences and building great teams.
• Must be 18+ and able to obtain food safety certifications as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day bakery operations alongside BOM to deliver exceptional guest experiences.
• Independently lead bakery when BOM is away, keep team focused and operations smooth.
• Support recruiting, onboarding, and training to build a strong, staffed team.
• Create schedules and manage labor to meet bakery and business needs.
• Assist with ordering, inventory, product rotation, and shrink control.
• Maintain high standards for quality, safety, cleanliness, and speed.
• Complete administrative tasks accurately and on time.
• Identify opportunities to improve bakery performance with leadership to implement solutions.
• Foster a culture where team members feel supported and accountable.
