Job summary

Hy-Vee is seeking a Baker for its Bakery department. You will prepare and bake products, lead bakery clerks, and ensure high standards of freshness, quality, and sanitation. You’ll engage with customers, manage production flow, and maintain accurate labels and safety practices throughout shifts.

The role requires a high school diploma and 6–12 months of related experience; training and teamwork are emphasized in a fast-paced bakery setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; department training is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers with a smile and assist them in-store.
• Set up daily production schedule and prioritize special orders.
• Prepare, bake, fry, and handle department products following recipes.
• Check product freshness and pull by date; plan for future days.
• Inspect incoming products for quality and quantity; report mispicks.
• Invoice and store product as directed by Bakery Manager.
• Ensure correct labeling on items and review department safety.
• Understand bakery equipment maintenance needs and report issues.
• Lead bakery clerks on shift, providing guidance and direction.
