Job summary

The Kroger Co. is seeking a Grocery Clerk (Bakery/Deli) to deliver an outstanding customer experience and maintain a safe, clean environment.

You will assist the department manager in meeting sales goals, monitor quality standards, and uphold our Customer 1st strategy with respect for colleagues and customers alike. Responsibilities include preparing items, offering samples, promoting bakery/deli specials, and ensuring product freshness and proper labeling.

Qualifications

• Customer service and communication skills are essential.
• Basic math and numerical accuracy are required.
• Ability to obtain a current food handlers permit after hire.

Responsibilities

• Grocery Clerk (Bakery/Deli) will prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
• Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products.
• Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
• Provide customers with fresh products that they have ordered and correct portion size.
• Recommend deli or bakery items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need.
• Use bakery equipment (refrigerators, freezers, slicers, ovens) per guidelines.
• Prepare foods according to temperature logs and cooking instructions.
• Measure, prepare and mix ingredients as per recipe.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise.
• Report discrepancies to the department manager.
• Know store layout to locate products for customers.
• Stay current with ads and promotions.
• Gain knowledge of products to respond to questions.
