Job summary

The Kroger Co. is hiring a Grocery Clerk (Bakery/Deli) to create an outstanding customer experience by delivering friendly service and fresh, high-quality products.

You will prepare items per customer requests, assist with samples, and promote bakery and deli specials while maintaining a safe, clean environment. You will work closely with the department manager to meet sales goals, follow food safety regulations, and help customers with product knowledge, ensuring satisfaction and repeat store

Qualifications

• Customer service-oriented and able to handle multiple tasks.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Basic math skills for cash handling and measurements.
• Ability to obtain a current food handler's permit after hiring.

Responsibilities

• Prepare bakery/deli items per customer requests using proper equipment.
• Offer samples to help customers discover items.
• Inform customers of bakery/deli specials.
• Provide fresh products and correct portion sizes to prevent shrink.
• Recommend items to meet customer needs and preferences.
• Use bakery equipment per company guidelines.
• Follow food temperature logs and cooking instructions.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise.
• Report ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Stay current with ads and promotions.
