Responsibilities include:

  • Offering product samples to help customers discover new items or inquire about products.
  • Informing customers about bakery and deli specials.
  • Providing customers with fresh products in correct portions to prevent shrinkage.
  • Recommending bakery or deli items to meet customer needs.
  • Using bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to company guidelines.
  • Preparing foods following temperature logs and cooking instructions.
  • Measuring, preparing, and mixing ingredients as per recipes using appropriate utensils and equipment.
  • Packaging, labeling, and inventorying ingredients and merchandise.
  • Checking product quality, reviewing 'sell by' dates, and taking necessary actions.
  • Properly using kitchen equipment including stoves, scales, fryers, steamers, and robots.
  • Labeling, stocking, and inventorying department merchandise.
  • Reporting discrepancies in product ordering or shipping to management.
  • Understanding store layout to locate products for customers.
  • Staying current with advertisements and promotions.
  • Maintaining knowledge of products and responding to customer inquiries with suggestions.
  • Monitoring inventory and stocking conditions, noting discrepancies.
  • Ensuring proper temperatures in cases and coolers, maintaining logs.
  • Promoting trust and respect among team members.
  • Creating a welcoming environment for customers, answering questions about products.
  • Adhering to food safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Following safety procedures, identifying unsafe conditions, and reporting them.
  • Performing preventive maintenance and notifying management of equipment issues.
  • Reporting customer or employee accidents.
  • Working cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
  • Managing conflicts in a reasonable and cooperative manner.
  • Acting with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  • Following directions and seeking assistance to resolve issues.
  • Supporting and assisting minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
