Responsibilities include:

  • Offering product samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
  • Informing customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
  • Providing customers with fresh products they have ordered and the correct portion size to prevent shrink.
  • Recommending deli or bakery items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need.
  • Using all equipment in bakery such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to company guidelines.
  • Preparing foods according to food temperature logs and following cooking instructions.
  • Measuring, preparing, and mixing ingredients according to recipes, using various kitchen utensils and equipment.
  • Properly preparing, packaging, labeling, and inventorying ingredients.
  • Checking product quality to ensure freshness, reviewing "sell by" dates, and taking appropriate action.
  • Properly using kitchen equipment, stove, computerized scale, fryer, steamer, robot coupe, etc.
  • Labeling, stocking, and inventorying department merchandise.
  • Reporting product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
  • Understanding the store's layout and locating products when requested by customers.
  • Staying current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
  • Gaining and maintaining knowledge of products sold within the department and responding to questions and making suggestions.
  • Maintaining awareness of inventory/stocking conditions and noting discrepancies.
  • Ensuring proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and logs are kept.
  • Promoting trust and respect among associates.
  • Creating an environment that makes customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated.
  • Adhering to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Reinforcing safety programs by complying with procedures and identifying unsafe conditions.
  • Practicing preventive maintenance and inspecting equipment, notifying management of repairs needed.
  • Reporting customer or employee accidents.
  • Working cooperatively in high-paced and stressful environments.
  • Managing conflict reasonably and cooperatively.
  • Acting with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  • Following directions and seeking assistance to resolve issues.
  • Supporting and assisting customers, including minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  • Performing essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
