Job summary

Panera Bread in the United States is seeking an Assistant General Manager to lead an energetic bakery-cafe team and partner with the General Manager to drive store performance, guest satisfaction, and people development.

You will hire, onboard, and coach team members, manage staffing and scheduling, and uphold Panera’s standards for operations, safety, and quality. This role emphasizes leadership, teamwork, and a commitment to warm guest experiences.

Qualifications

• 18+ years of age or older.
• 1+ years of restaurant management experience preferred.
• ServSafe certification (or ability to achieve).
• Strong business acumen with ability to drive results.
• Flexible hours including nights and weekends in a fast-paced environment.
• Background check required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and inspire the bakery-cafe team in partnership with the General Manager.
• Plan staffing, shift scheduling, and people development.
• Assist with hiring, onboarding, and training of new team members.
• Manage team performance to meet goals and quality standards.
• Partner with the General Manager to develop managers in processes and Panera's values.
• Ensure guest satisfaction with quality food and service.
• Build relationships to create loyal guests.
• Ensure adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Support cost and inventory management.
• Foster a warm, inclusive culture and teamwork.
