Job summary

Insomnia Cookies seeks an Accounting Manager – Bakeries/4-Wall to own bakery-level accounting across locations, overseeing COGS, labor, utilities, and waste while partnering with operations and finance to drive financial discipline.

You will lead multi-unit month-end close, ensure timely results with variance explanations, and prepare journal entries to maintain GL integrity under US GAAP. CPA preferred and 6+ years of leadership in consumer products.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• CPA strongly preferred.
• 6+ years of accounting leadership experience — ideally with public accounting and industry in consumer products.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and practical application of technical accounting.
• Experience working cross-functionally and handling multiple stakeholders and workstreams.
• Strong communications and presentation skills — tell a story beyond numbers.
• Comfortable in a fast-moving environment with tight timelines and results-driven mindset.
• Experience with Workday ERP and inventory management systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Drive process, systems, and scalability improvements to support company growth, including new bakery openings.
• Own the bakery/4-wall accounting for each bakery location, ensuring accurate, timely results, and clear variance explanations against forecast and prior periods.
• Manage inventory and cost of goods sold, including inventory valuation, shrink/waste tracking, and margin analysis across locations.
• Oversee bakery labor accounting — accruals, reconciliations, and reporting — in partnership with Payroll and Operations.
• Account for utilities, waste, office expense, and other bakery-level operating costs, including accruals and vendor accrual validation.
• Lead the multi-unit month-end close for the bakery portfolio, standardizing processes and close timelines across locations.
• Prepare, review, and approve journal entries and account reconciliations and ensure the integrity of the general ledger in accordance with US GAAP.
