Job summary

Speechify is hiring for a backend-focused role within a 100% distributed team that builds the core API stack behind payments, subscriptions, and the public TTS service. You will own critical backend services and contribute to system-wide reliability and performance.

Ideal candidates have strong TS/Node back-end experience, hands-on GCP knowledge, and a track record with Docker and Kubernetes in scalable environments. This role offers meaningful impact and a flexible asynchronous culture.

Qualifications

• Proven back-end experience with TS/Node is required.
• Direct experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP); working knowledge of AWS/Azure is a plus.
• Docker and containerized deployments are preferred.
• Experience with high-availability architectures and scalable services is valued.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own APIs for payments, subscriptions, auth, and usage tracking.
• Improve existing services to be faster, cheaper, and more fault-tolerant.
• Ensure correctness through tests, logs, and real system checks.
• Automate repetitive tasks and enable the team to scale efficiently.
• Apply changes that can be repeated across the team and systems.
• Create B2B and enterprise integrations for customers building on Speechify.
• Collaborate with product, mobile, and web to keep backend architecture aligned with product goals.
