Job summary

Speechify is seeking a backend-focused engineer to own the APIs behind payments, subscriptions, auth, and the public TTS API, serving millions across iOS, Android, Mac, Chrome and web.

Ideal candidates have proven TS/Node backend experience, direct GCP exposure, and a habit of shipping reliable, scalable code. Docker/Kubernetes skills and autonomy are valued in our fully distributed US-based environment.

Qualifications

• Proven backend experience in TS/Node.
• Direct experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Experience building scalable, reliable APIs and services.
• Ability to design and automate resilient systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own backend APIs for payments, subscriptions, auth, and TTS.
• Improve performance, reliability, and cost efficiency of services.
• Ensure correctness across multiple clients and billing systems.
• Automate repetitive tasks and enable repeatable workflows.
• Collaborate with product/mobile/web teams to align backend with roadmap.
• Design B2B and enterprise integrations.
