Job summary

Speechify seeks a Platform Backend Engineer to own and scale the TS/Node backend that powers our payments, subscriptions, auth, and TTS APIs across web, mobile, and desktop apps. You will design high-availability services, improve latency, and collaborate with product teams to align architecture with business goals.

The role emphasizes automation, scalable APIs, and enterprise integrations, with a focus on reliability and cost efficiency in a distributed, modern infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Proven backend experience in TS/Node (required).
• Direct experience with GCP; working knowledge of AWS, Azure, or another cloud.
• A daily working setup with AI agents you can describe in detail — what runs unattended, what you review, and where you've decided it doesn't get to act alone.
• Experience with high-availability deployments on Kubernetes is preferred.
• Ability to design B2B and enterprise integrations for customers building on top of us.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own the APIs behind payments, subscriptions, auth, consumption tracking, and our public TTS API.
• Take on services you didn’t write and make them faster, cheaper, and harder to break.
• Establish correctness before shipping and implement checks to maintain it over time.
• Automate repetitive parts of your role to free up the team for harder problems.
• Turn one-off work into repeatable patterns the team can reuse.
• Work with product, mobile, and web to keep backend architecture ahead of the product.
