Job summary

Speechify is seeking a Platform/Backend Engineer to design, build, and own the APIs for payments, subscriptions, auth, and analytics across our distributed products. You will ensure correctness across multiple clients, billing flows, and data stores while the team moves quickly.

You’ll collaborate with product, mobile, and web teams to keep backend architecture ahead of the product roadmap, automate repetitive work, and enable scalable growth in Speechify's fully distributed environment.

Qualifications

• Proven backend experience in TS/Node (required).
• Direct cloud experience with GCP; knowledge of AWS or Azure.
• Ability to document and share work to enable team scaling.
• Experience with AI-assisted workflows and automation.
• Strong logs and system state verification mindset.
• Ability to explain decisions and prune unnecessary features.
• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes is a plus.
• Comfort with asynchronous work culture and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own APIs behind payments, subscriptions, auth, and analytics.
• Improve services to be faster, cheaper, and more reliable.
• Ensure changes are correct before shipping and maintain post-release checks.
• Automate repetitive tasks and expand work that can be reused by the team.
• Collaborate with product, mobile, and web teams to stay ahead of the roadmap.
