Job summary

Speechify is seeking a backend-focused engineer to own the APIs behind payments, subscriptions, and the public TTS endpoints. You will work across services to keep latency tight and operations reliable, collaborating with product, mobile, and web teams to stay ahead of product direction.

You will design scalable systems, automate routine work, and ensure correctness via robust checks. A strong background in TS/Node and cloud platforms like GCP is essential, with a bias toward high-availability

Qualifications

• Proven backend experience with TS/Node is required.
• Direct experience with GCP; working knowledge of AWS, Azure, or other clouds.
• A habit of handing off work you used to own and leaving tangible results.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted workflows and automation.
• Strong focus on logs, DB state, and actual requests when validating changes.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own APIs for payments, subscriptions, auth, consumption tracking, and the TTS API.
• Improve existing services to be faster, cheaper, and more robust.
• Validate changes with robust checks before shipping and implement lasting safeguards.
• Automate repetitive parts of the role to scale beyond individual effort.
• Repurpose completed work into repeatable processes for the team.
• Design B2B and enterprise integrations for customers leveraging Speechify APIs.
• Collaborate with product, mobile, and web to keep backend architecture ahead of product direction.
