Job summary

Peak Energy is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to design and scale backend services that ingest, process, and surface operational data from grid-scale battery systems. You’ll build APIs, data pipelines, and data models, collaborating with hardware, manufacturing, and product teams to ensure reliable, scalable software as the company expands from pilot deployments to gigawatt-scale production.

You will own production software, participate in design reviews, and contribute to observability,

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience, backend focus.
• Strong Python and production-grade backend experience.
• Experience designing REST APIs and service interfaces.
• Strong SQL skills, PostgreSQL, schema design and data modeling.
• Cloud-based development on Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Experience owning production software including monitoring and improvement.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend applications and services for operational data.
• Build and maintain APIs enabling communication between battery systems, cloud services, and internal apps.
• Develop data processing pipelines for key battery performance metrics.
• Design and optimize database schemas, queries, and data models for analytics.
• Develop software integrations linking manufacturing systems, devices, and cloud apps.
• Improve reliability, scalability, and performance as deployment footprint grows.
• Collaborate with hardware and firmware teams to integrate new functionality.
• Troubleshoot production issues and enhance observability and quality.
