Job summary

EY is seeking an Assistant Director to lead cloud platform and infrastructure initiatives for government cloud programs, primarily in Azure Government. You will guide teams across product, engineering, and platform groups, ensuring secure, scalable solutions while balancing delivery quality and risk.

You will drive DevSecOps practices, establish architecture standards, and mentor engineers to strengthen capability.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in engineering roles with private/public cloud IaaS, PaaS, and/or SaaS.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent experience.
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) and Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305).
• Strong hands‑on experience: Infrastructure as Code & CI/CD – with tools like Bicep, Azure DevOps, ARM templates, or Ansible.
• Containers and orchestration – Docker, Kubernetes, AKS, Azure Container Apps, or Helm for packaging and deploying services at scale.
• Networking fundamentals – design/troubleshoot VNets, subnets, NSGs, routing, load balancing, hub‑and‑spoke topologies.
• Cloud security principles – shared responsibility, least privilege, identity-driven security, encryption, logging/monitoring (NIST, FedRAMP).
• Identity and access – Microsoft Entra ID, Azure RBAC, Entra ID RBAC, PIM, managed identities.
• Windows and Linux administration – patching, performance tuning, security baselines.
• Scripting – PowerShell (Python a plus).
• Experience with government security frameworks (NIST controls).
• Agile delivery (Scrum/Kanban/SAFe).
• Strong written and verbal communication in distributed teams.

Responsibilities

• Own delivery of cloud platform and infrastructure capabilities across multiple initiatives with security and mission alignment.
• Guide technical direction for Azure Government platforms to be scalable, secure, and sustainable.
• Establish and evolve DevSecOps practices and automation to improve delivery quality and reliability.
• Make informed trade-off decisions balancing speed, quality, and risk.
• Lead architecture and design reviews to ensure standards and outcomes.
• Oversee risk, dependency, and issue management; escalate and resolve proactively.
• Influence stakeholders across product, engineering, and leadership to align priorities.
• Develop engineering talent through coaching and delegation.
• Promote operational excellence by improving processes, tooling, and ways of working.
