Job summary

Apex seeks a Cloud Security Engineer, AWS GovCloud, to design, implement, maintain, and optimize secure cloud environments supporting U.S. government missions.

This role requires hands-on experience securing cloud platforms in regulated environments and ensuring compliance with NIST, FedRAMP, RMF, and DoD ILs across cloud providers. The ideal candidate will engineer IAM/RBAC, ZTA, and encryption strategies, deploy cloud-native security tools, and drive continuous monitoring, vulnerability

Qualifications

• U.S. citizen required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Assurance, Computer Science, or related field (or 5+ years equivalent).
• 5–9+ years in cloud security engineering, hands-on with AWS GovCloud, Azure Gov, Google Cloud, or multi-cloud environments.

Responsibilities

• Design secure cloud architectures across AWS GovCloud, Azure, and/or Google Cloud.
• Implement and maintain cloud security frameworks and compliance (NIST 800-53, FedRAMP, RMF, DoD IL-4/IL-5).
• Configure IAM/RBAC, JIT access, Key Vaults, and ZTA across cloud environments.
• Engineer and optimize cloud-native security tools, SIEM, CSPM/CWPP, and threat detection/response.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments, penetration testing simulations, and STIG/CIS reviews.
• Develop SSP, SAR, POA&M, and risk/compliance reporting for cloud ops.
• Coordinate incident response, IoCs, threat intel, and root-cause analyses.
• Collaborate with DevSecOps to embed security into CI/CD and IaC (Terraform/CloudFormation).
• Proven ability to be on-site 5 days a week in Playa Vista, CA.
