Job summary

SAIC is seeking a Cloud Engineer to support an IT Service Management effort for USTRANSCOM at Scott AFB, IL. The role focuses on owning the foundational AWS ecosystem where web pages live, not building frontend/backend apps.

Responsibilities include designing GovCloud hosting with ECS/EKS, enhancing security/compliance, migrating to containers, and implementing CI/CD with GitLab/Terraform. DoD documentation governance is required.

Qualifications

• BS/BA plus 10+ years of experience.
• Active DoD Secret Clearance required.
• AWS Cloud Engineer Certification with AWS Cloud Engineer experience.
• At least one IAT Level II certification (Security+, CECCNA-Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, CND, SSCP).
• CE certification or certificate for Cloud/virtualization (Azure, AWS, Oracle, IBM) with preference for Azure.
• Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8/9 command line administration.
• Experience designing, building, and managing cloud-based apps/services in AWS.
• Proficient knowledge of ECS, EKS, and ECR.
• Experience with DoD-aligned documentation and governance.
• Basic CMS administration (permissions, configs, patches, backups) in cloud platforms.

Responsibilities

• Architect and implement AWS GovCloud hosting environments using ECS Fargate/EKS/containers.
• Design, deploy, and maintain scalable, secure website infrastructure in AWS GovCloud.
• Emphasize cloud security, compliance, and resiliency.
• Migrate and refactor web infrastructure into containers.
• Manage static and dynamic hosting architectures.
• Proven CI/CD experience with GitLab and Terraform.
• Experience with blue/green deployment methodologies.
• Collaborate with senior managers to establish strategic plans and objectives.
• Make decisions on administrative or project work and ensure objectives are met.
• Provide DoD-aligned documentation and governance.
• Proven experience with CMS administration in cloud platforms.
