Job summary

SAIC is seeking a Cloud Engineer to support an IT Service Management effort for USTRANSCOM located at Scott Air Force Base (AFB) in Illinois. The role will own the foundational AWS ecosystem where the web pages live, not writing frontend or backend apps.

The position requires architecture, deployment, and governance of cloud hosting using ECS Fargate, EKS, and ECR, with emphasis on security and resiliency. Expect CI/CD work with GitLab and Terraform, and after-hours support may be required.

Qualifications

• BS/BA and 10+ years of experience.
• Active DoD Secret Clearance required.
• AWS Cloud Engineer Certification or equivalent experience.
• Must have at least one IAT Level II cert (e.g., Security+, CEH, CCNA-Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, CND, SSCP).
• Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8/9 command line administration.
• Experience designing, building, and managing cloud-based apps/services using AWS.

Responsibilities

• Architecture and implement AWS GovCloud hosting for web assets (ECS Fargate/EKS/ECR).
• Design, deploy, and maintain scalable, secure website infrastructure in AWS GovCloud.
• Emphasize Cloud security, compliance, and resiliency.
• Migrate/refactor web infra into containers and manage hosting architectures.
• Proven CI/CD experience (GitLab, Terraform).
• Support blue/green deployments and engage with senior management on strategy.
