Job summary
SOCOTEC is seeking an experienced AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to perform structural steel inspection services on commercial, industrial, and public works projects in Phoenix, AZ. The role includes shop and field inspections of welding, bolting, and NDT activities with adherence to AWS codes and project requirements.
The ideal candidate has a CWI certification and at least 3 years of construction QA/inspection experience, with willingness to travel within the region.
Qualifications
- Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction quality assurance, welding inspection, or related construction services.
Responsibilities
- Perform shop and field inspections of structural steel welding and bolting activities.
- Verify compliance with approved plans, specifications, AWS standards, and building codes.
- Review welding procedures, welder qualifications, and inspection requirements.
- Perform and document welding inspections in accordance with project specifications and industry standards.
- Coordinate and review nondestructive testing (NDT) activities and results.
- Read and interpret structural drawings, shop drawings, specifications, and code requirements.
- Prepare accurate daily reports, inspection documentation, and project records.
- Communicate inspection findings to project managers, contractors, engineers, and client representatives.
