Job summary

SOCOTEC is seeking an experienced Certified Welding Inspector (AWS-CWI) with UT Shear Wave Level II to perform structural steel inspections on commercial, industrial, and public works construction projects. You will conduct shop and field inspections of welding and bolting, review procedures, and coordinate NDT activities while ensuring compliance with AWS codes and project requirements.

Qualifications

• Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.
• UT Shear Wave Level II certification required.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction QA or welding inspection.
• Thorough knowledge of structural welding, bolting, and applicable AWS codes and standards.
• Ability to read and interpret structural drawings, shop drawings, and building codes.

Responsibilities

• Perform shop and field inspections of structural steel welding and bolting.
• Verify compliance with plans, specs, AWS standards, and codes.
• Review welding procedures, welder qualifications and inspection requirements.
• Document welding inspections per project specs and industry standards.
• Coordinate and review nondestructive testing (NDT) activities and results.
• Read and interpret drawings, shop drawings, specs, and code requirements.
• Prepare daily reports and project records with accuracy.
• Travel to project sites to support inspection activities in the region.
