Job summary
SOCOTEC US is seeking an experienced AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to perform structural steel inspection services on commercial, industrial, and public works projects in the Phoenix area. You will conduct shop and field welding and bolting inspections and ensure conformity with AWS codes and project requirements.
The role requires reading drawings, documenting findings, coordinating NDT, and travel as needed.
Qualifications
- Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification required.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in construction quality assurance or welding inspection.
- Thorough knowledge of structural welding, bolting, and AWS codes.
- Ability to read structural drawings and building code requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and accurate project documentation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Willingness to travel for project assignments.
- Valid driver's license and ability to pass background screening.
Responsibilities
- Perform shop and field inspections of structural steel welding and bolting.
- Verify compliance with plans, specs, AWS standards, and codes.
- Review welding procedures, welder qualifications, and inspection requirements.
- Document welding inspections per project specs and industry standards.
- Coordinate NDT activities and review results.
- Read and interpret drawings, specs, and code requirements.
- Prepare daily reports and project records.
- Maintain organized project files and reports.
- Communicate findings to project managers, contractors and clients.
- Identify non-conforming work and verify corrective actions.
- Travel to project sites to support inspections regionally.
- Perform inspections per quality standards and safety procedures.
