Job summary

SOCOTEC, Inc. seeks an experienced AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to conduct shop and field structural steel inspections on commercial, industrial, and public works projects in Phoenix, AZ.

The role ensures compliance with AWS standards, project specs, and building codes, while coordinating NDT activities and maintaining meticulous documentation. The ideal candidate will have a current CWI, 3+ years in construction QA or inspection, strong drawing interpretation skills, and a willingness

Qualifications

• Current AWS CWI certification.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction QA, welding inspection or related services.
• Thorough knowledge of structural welding, bolting, and AWS codes and standards.
• Ability to read and interpret structural/shop drawings and building codes.
• Strong documentation and reporting skills.
• Willingness to travel for project assignments.

Responsibilities

• Perform shop and field inspections of structural steel welding and bolting activities.
• Verify compliance with plans, specs, AWS standards and codes.
• Review welding procedures, welders' qualifications, and inspection requirements.
• Document welding inspections in accordance with project specs and industry standards.
• Coordinate and review nondestructive testing (NDT) activities and results.
• Read and interpret drawings, specs, and code requirements.
• Prepare accurate daily reports and project records.
• Maintain organized project files and reports.
• Communicate inspection findings to project managers, contractors, engineers and clients.
