Job summary

Hinterland Insurance, a Denver-based MGA, is seeking an AVP, Operations to scale underwriting operations across DIC and Commercial teams. You will own processes, platforms, and reporting to drive scalable, repeatable workflows and remove bottlenecks.

You will lead Operations Specialists, manage submission/rating platforms, and partner with Compliance & Loss Control. The role requires deep underwriting ops experience and strong leadership in a hybrid work setting.

Qualifications

• Substantial commercial property and general liability underwriting operations experience.
• Strong knowledge of the underwriting lifecycle and delegated authority processes.
• Proven experience leading and developing teams with SOPs and workflows.
• Experience administering submission and rating platforms and using BI for reporting.
• Excellent organization and interaction with senior leadership.

Responsibilities

• Translate underwriting strategy into operating plans, priorities and KPIs.
• Oversee renewal workflows, pricing guidance, and communication of changes.
• Own SOPs for renewal, issuance and endorsements across divisions.
• Lead, coach and develop Operations Specialists and Senior Specialists.
• Oversee submission routing, underwriter assignment, and capacity planning.
• Maintain carrier placement guidance and oversee platform changes.
• Coordinate audits, validations, and reporting for compliance and quality.
