Job summary

Aon is seeking an Assistant Vice President to join its Space Insurance team in Washington, DC, a hybrid role. You will advise clients, structure placements, and negotiate coverage for complex space risks, collaborating with operators, manufacturers, launch providers, and financial stakeholders.

You will lead renewals, build client relationships, and work with underwriters to navigate pricing and market trends, while supporting export compliance and new business opportunities.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of insurance or reinsurance experience, ideally in specialty lines; space/aviation or complex risks is a strong plus.
• Experience placing specialty risks in London, European, or international markets.
• Knowledge of U.S. space export compliance regulations and export controls for space insurance.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary day-to-day contact for a portfolio of space clients and ensure excellent service.
• Lead renewal strategy and placement from data collection through binding and ongoing service.
• Structure, negotiate, and place complex risks with local and international markets.
• Build relationships with underwriters and monitor capacity, pricing, and wording trends.
• Identify client needs and coverage gaps; recommend tailored risk transfer solutions.
• Draft and review market submissions, policy wordings, and endorsements.
• Support claims advocacy by interpreting coverage and coordinating with underwriters.
• Contribute to new business development, RFP responses, and client presentations.
